The Danish National School of Performing Arts seeks Head of Contemporary Dance Education.

As head of the contemporary dance education you will have a unique opportunity to develop, shape and raise the profile of a new three-year artistic bachelor education in contemporary dance, and further more contribute to the development of a future two-year master program within the field of dance.
In the coming years the Danish National School of Performing Arts will further develop the current 4-year performing arts educations into artistic bachelor and masters educations, and the heads of education will be central figures in this progress.

This development will run concurrently with the merging of the other publicly funded Danish performing arts schools, into one institution. The new institution will gather the current 15 higher performing arts educations and postgraduate courses, with addresses in several different places in Denmark, into one state institution.

As head of the education you will:
- Have the pedagogical, artistic and economic responsibility for the current 4-year education, soon to be a 3-year bachelor education in contemporary dance
- Be a part of forming and designing the Danish National School of Performing Arts further development in the areas of teaching and education at the highest level, in particular the quality assurance of the educational activities within contemporary dance.
- Building the educational and artistic activities with your colleagues in an upcoming teachers’ competence group for the ‘Body’s Movement and Expression’
- Be responsible for composing a group of highly qualified teachers for the education
- Be in close contact with the education’s approx. 36 students during classes and as coach and mentor
- Participate in a creative collaboration with the other educations and disciplines at the Danish National School of Performing Arts
- Function as an important bridge between the school and the professional environment both in Denmark and internationally

You will receive assistance from the Study Administration (educational producer and study coordinator) in solving the administrative and planning tasks, as you will have your main focus on the development of the education and also interaction and daily contact with the students.

A new study plan for the 4-year education has been produced for the current year.
Areas of work:
- Overall responsibility for planning, coordination and realization of the teaching
- Ensure the quality of the education
- Overall responsibility for admission, coaching, mentoring and evaluation of the students

- Presentation and deliberation of study plans for the individual student
- Development of the education’s course-profile, subject content and related courses in collaboration with the education’s additional employees and the center leader
- Contributing in maintaining and further developing the Danish and foreign networks
- Participating in the interdisciplinary collaboration in Center for Acting and Dance in the establishment and forming of the competence area for the ‘Body’s Movement and Expression’

- Solid teaching experience at the highest international level
- Experience with artistic research or pedagogical research would be preferable
- Experience as a professional dancer and/or choreographer at highest international level
- Extensive administrative skills within contemporary dance and the professional performing arts in Denmark but also internationally
- Solid knowledge of work processes in dance and education in the performing arts in general, and the desire and ability to profile the education both in relation to the school and to the performing arts industry

It is an advantage, but not a condition, that you master Danish, Swedish or Norwegian in speech and writing.

The head of the education refers to the center leader.

The position is 80% (29.6 hours/week) whereof 20% is allocated to teaching classes.
Salary and employment conditions:

You will be employed on an individual contract with a monthly salary pr. January 1st 2015 of 29,906.40 kr. (amounts to pay scale level 35 for 29,6 hours/week) for a 80% position. Hereto comes 15% in pension.
You will have the opportunity to continue your artistic work outside the school parallel with your employment at the school, as the position and the staffing allows.

The employment is for 4 years, with the possibility for an extension, after agreement with the rector.

The Danish National School of Performing Arts is from January 1st 2015 an artistic higher education under the Ministry of Culture, with 15 educations within performance art. Today the Danish National School of Performing Arts covers 11 educations with approx. 130 students within acting, dance, dance partnership, musical accompaniment for dance, directing, choreography, scenography, sound, lighting, stage production and stage management & prop design.
