CoDa Dance Company seeks 5 female dance artists for Spring 2014 (paid) for their next project L’Hermitte’.
CoDa Dance is a London-based all-female contemporary dance company which focuses on creating cutting-edge choreography and performances by blending intense physical theatre with contemporary dance, under the choreographic direction of Nikki Watson.
L’Hermitte’s is the sensation of an electrical impulse running down the spine and limbs, a sensation regularly experienced by people with MS and other neurological diseases. The purpose of this project is to deliver creative movement workshops to people with auto-immune diseases, using this as movement research for a new dance piece.

This project is financially supported by Awards for All – BIG Lottery Fund, Arts Council England Grants for the Arts, and is receiving in-kind support from Surrey Arts, University of Roehampton and Tandridge Trust TLC. The project is being developed in partnership with Surrey Central Health and local autoimmune groups.

This project requires 3 professional dancer/facilitators to deliver the workshops and a further 2 professional dancers to work with the facilitators to create the piece.

25 January 2014 – Facilitator Auditions Michaelis Theatre, Roehampton, SW15 5PJ

4 February 2014 - Workshop facilitation planning meeting
Workshop facilitation – various dates between 7 February 2014 – 7 March 2014 (please note you will be expected to co-deliver 10 sessions during this period) various locations throughout Surrey

8 February 2014 – Performer Auditions Michaelis Theatre, Roehampton, SW15 5PJ
9 February 2014 – Recalls Michaelis Theatre, Roehampton, SW15 5PJ

10 March 2014 -18April 2014 (Phase 2) – Development of piece (please note some weekend rehearsals will be required) – Surrey Arts Suite, Guildford, GU3 3BH

20 April 2014 – Sharing of work – Michaelis Theatre, Roehampton, SW15 5PJ

For Phase 1 (research) we are seeking 3 facilitators/dancers
These dancers will need to have:
• excellent contemporary technique
• 2 years professional performance experience
• A proven track record of working within a disabled context
• Be available to facilitate 10 workshops over the stated period
• Be able to commit to both phases of the project
• Hold a DBS dated within the last 2 years or be able to get one

For Phase 2 (development) we are seeking an additional 2 dancers
These 2 dancers will need to have
• excellent contemporary technique
• 2 years professional experience
• An interest in delivering dance in an inclusive setting

Phase 1: £840 (this will cover delivering 10 sessions plus 3 studio days)
Phase 2: Equity weekly rates (4 weeks)
Please note all performers will be expected to work 5 days during the R&D period (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday)
